Looking for some recommendations for a couple night stop in France on way/return to Morzine .
Ideally closer to Calais a possible.
Thanks
Stopped in Dijon the last time we went. It's nice. Not near Calais though.
We're going from ijmuden I Google mapped somewhere about halfway then Airbnb. It's a gamble but €80 for 4 adults it's not too pricey.
We just used the Ibis styles at Béthune Bruay. Nice hotel, not ovrly expensive, about an hour from Calais. Found it by deciding roughly where we wanted to stop then using Trivago to find and compare hotels
We usually go for Champagne region, lots of nice places for a short stay. Not too far from Calais, but still feels like you've taken a decent chunk out of the journey.
Epernay is a nice town.
We'll have 2 kids and a Dog , Champagne/Epernay sounds an option . Thinking Simple bike rides and chilled couple days .

We've stayed here a few times. Bit more commercial than when we went. Opposite a big lake. Bakery in the village. Pizza place opposite. Pool etc for kids. Forest for walks and a traffic free cycle path etc. Ideal for a couple of days. Not a huge amount to do for anything longer.
We’re giving an Airbnb in Troyes a try this year. It looks like a nice place to visit for an evening stroll and some nice food.
We’ve also got a couple of days to kill en route to Morzine and were thinking of somewhere like an airbnb near Paris where you can get a train in from? Not sure where yet. Kids have never been and we’ve not been for ages.
Reims is quite nice. There is usually something going on in the centre in summer. You can also visit the old F1 race track. You can drive most of it and the pit lane is really cool. As you get closer to Calais that bit of France is a bit dull. There's some interesting historical stuff, especially related to WW2. Tbh I'd do one night somewhere to break the journey and have an extra night in the Alps.
+1 for Reims. Plenty of places to eat in the centre of town. The ibis styles cathedral is cheap, clean, has good secure parking and everything is walkable from there. Accor group hotels are genrally 100% dog-freindly as well.
Over the years we've tried Riemes, Dijon and Troyes. Our favourite is Troyes and we've returned many times. It is smaller than the other two but the centre is less 'city' like and really great for a wander around the old streets and squares. Loads of bars and restuarants, a great market and an abundance of 'andouillette' sausages on offer.
