My daughter has £330 to spend on a Laptop.
In the old days I understood processors and which was best but I'm utterly lost these days
/harry hill Which one is best?
Dual-core AMD Athlon™ II X2 P360 Processor in this
or Intel Pentium P6100 2GHz in this
thanks.
Based purely on this,
I'd posit that the AMD was the better CPU. But don't quote me on that, I'm terrifically out of touch with AMD processors. I should do something about that really.
The HP has a faster hard disk; I swapped out a 5.4k drive for a 7.2k unit in my laptop and it made a noticeable difference in performance.
Other than that, there's not a lot between them. I'm a big fan of Toshiba laptops and HP hardware is generally good stuff too. I think if it were me I'd go to PC World or such and see if there's any I could poke and prod, check the keyboards and displays and such.
Thanks, I was preferring the shop visit myself.
don't worry too much about the processor but a good way of telling is to look at the bus (fsb or front side bus) speed, the higher the hz is better
both are good choices
I think you're opining, not positing...
Tomshardware has a CPU hierarchy chart, not cast in stone, gaming specific, but a useful guide none the less:

I don't necessarily mean to buy from a shop, just that it's good to get 'hands on' with this stuff I think.
