The battery life on my phone (Moto G7 Plus) is rubbish. I’ve had a new battery fitted and it is still rubbish. Not running a load of apps in the background or using it for games/streaming.
Never had this issue with previous phones. However, I have killed all but one* of them by dropping them, hence the need for a rubber case.
Could it be cooking the battery?
Currently the case is off and expect the phone to meet it's demise on the hard tiled floor of Tesco before the day is through.
*I killed that one with a washing machine.
It would have to be pretty warm to the touch even through the case to be causing the battery to limit itself like that. If you regularly get it warm with wireless charging or gaming etc then that would probably reduce the overall life of the battery, not reduce its capacity between recharges.
Simple solution - remove the cover for a couple of days, see if it improves.
When you say rubbish, what do you mean exactly? Was it always rubbish?
Old battery might have been knackered, new one might need calibrating: https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/answers/indevice_detail/a_id/136584/p/10712#:~:text=If%20you%20are%20experiencing%20incorrect,button%20until%20the%20device%20reboots.
How old is the phone? It's usually software updates that kill older phones/batteries as the latest software is built for newer faster phones that older molder struggle with.
I also have the G7 Plus (I think) which as been great for a couple of years but I'd say in the last 6 months the battery now struggles to last a full day.

That's what I'm seeing.
The battery in my G7 Plus would not hold much charge after 3 years, when I placed it on a level suface I noticed the battery was swollen.
This batter is only 6 weeks old.
Are you sure the 'new' battery is actually new or a fake?
I bought a replacement from amazon for one of my daughters samsung phones a couple of years ago and the phone was just as bad - turned out the battery was a fake samsung and had half the advertised power.

I would hope so. Had it fitted at the local phone repair place and they gave me a receipt with warranty. Can't imagine that they would do that for a fake.
i got told that unless you buy the battery direct ie from apple/samsung etc, there is no way of telling the quality.
take it back, complain. you'll probably get a better one next time..
Talk to the repair place then?
They might be a victim of fakery, or they might be ripping you off.
Update: Gave up on it. It wasn’t charging past 88% and lost half it’s charge during a 30 minute phone call the other day. The situation was compounded by some ham fistedness by myself that saw me bend the tab inside the charging port that resulted in the cable not locating properly.
Replaced with a Moto G13 that would appear to be functioning perfectly. 30 minutes sat-navving and 3 hours of pissing about online has cost me 7%.
However, I did manage to get super glue all over the back of the silicon bumper case whilst trying to attach the steel disc for the magnetic car mount! Nail varnish remover and a pen knife should sort that.
There is a reason why I don’t have a fancy phone…
Too late to help here but if anyone is reading this again it might be worth knowing that (within reasonable limits) a lithium polymer battery will almost certainly perform better (ie have more usable capacity) when it is warm than when it is cold. So it is extremely unlikely that the extra insulation from a case would cause a drop off in battery performance.
In the summer, I've occassionally left my phone (Android) in the sun and it's shown a warning on the screen to say it's too warm. If you're not seeing that, I'd assume it's not too warm.
Having typed that, I wonder if the warning is brand/model specific...
Last summer my phone shut down several times from being too hot

The charging port is quite weak on the G7. I think I paid around a tenner for a new one. Hardest bit is opening the phone as they’re glued.
Frankly be not had a decent Moto since the g7. Glitchy with crap Bluetooth.

My wife's 3a was doing that last summer.
Sitting by the pool in 35-40 degree Corfu sun probably didn't help 😁
