Hi all
Any advice much appreciated. The Mrs and I are in Leicester for a wedding Sat night and will be coming from cornwall, we are hoping to spend Sunday night on the way back in the Cotswolds sort of area (not to far off m5) with nice country side and a good meal etc
Been thinking of Painswick near Stroud possibly
Suggestions of other places and hotels, b&b, pubs and walks etc please
Thanks in advance
Pete

Stayed in painswick last summer for a week before heading off to Cornwall for a week. Pretty much your journey in reverse as we're in derby.
Painswick is lovely and I'd highly recommend, couple of pubs/shops/indoor market community centre thing, and not a great deal else. Did a lovely walk from the door down past the church up into the hills. It's about 10/15 mins from Stroud which has all the usual facilities but its a bit of run down town in parts.

Find that the The Green Dragon Inn at Cockleford is a rare treat. Always had great food, sometimes interesting menus (Escolar with banana curry was a surprise!), lovely old pub, big fire in the winter and nice pint of Otter. Oh, and best local cheeseboard ever. Not far off junction 11a, about 15 mins.

Painswick fits the bill rather well.
