Does £2750 inc VAT sound about right for a replacement combi boiler to be fitted. It's a Worcester Bosch + mag filter + wireless room stat + chemical flush + new flue + upgrade of gas supply pipe in the house. Price is from a local plumber.
It's for a 4 bed house with 2 bathrooms.
Any advice on price much appreciated.
Sounds like a good price for the scope of work imo.
26,28 or a 32 kw unit.
Bout right I guess. Roughly £2200 + vat. If it's a CDI boiler then that will be about £900-1000 then you have a few of hundred for flue, controls, filter, inhibitor etc. Flue and pipe of course depend on length so looking at about £700 + vat for the labour and flush etc.
Well we just had our replaced (Worcester 25si) & moved to an old airing cupboard upstair, so redirected gas/water pipes & new flue thru the loft and it cost us £2700ish. We were told a that £1400 was for the boiler/flue/wifi controls. So I'd suggest it depends on how much your boiler costing you, as I'd expect a bigger boiler for 2 bathrooms. Have you had a couple of quotes? We did, even though we knew we'd be using the guys we did.
Sounds about right, my new boiler which was a swap from an old style boiler to a combi so involved some pipework being done was £2500.
Check which wireless thermostat you're getting too. The Salus ones are good for not much money.
Thanks all. It's a 32kw CDI boiler so looks like price is about right. Typically we need it done before Christmas so not much time to get other quotes!!
Good yo know it is the right ball park

just had a Worcester Bosch 29cdi fitted last week..
Included flush, new flue, Magnetic filter and new 25mm pipe work from the meter to the boiler..
We just got a new mechanical Stat.. (old one was broken) and because we don't need anything wireless..
£1600 including VAT.
Ours was about 2500 8 years ago, about the same scope as the OP, plus thermostatic valves on the rads, as they didn't have any, and a new boiler means the whole system has to meet current building regs. Also the boiler is an Alpha CD50, not a Worchester (should have had a Worcester as the Alpha has had several faults)
Wow Spacehopper that is cheap. Was that local plumber or national company?
was from a local(ish) guy..

He did a great job.. but i think hes on his Christmas Hols now..
Is that including the cost of lube?
I paid £1200 for a 28cdi pack from Grahams including the boiler, flu magnatec filter and two bottles of Fernox for flushing and dosing, about £140 for the Honeywell controller and another £300 for fitting.
So no, utterly shite deal.
That job also included cutting the old boiler pipe (was a relocation), the upgrade shouldn't cost much different seeing as you're just increasing the pipe from 15mm to 22mm and plumbing in a condensate drain (all has to be internal now).
all has to be internal now
Says who?
You know, I read something a couple of months ago claiming this but can't for the life of me find anything now. Can find a lot of guidance to say it's a last resort but nothing prohibiting it...
Nope, you can run condense externally but only if you meet certain conditions.
My boilers outside.....does that mean i have to run the condensate back into the house dave ? 😉
My plumber fitted the boiler and did the pipework into the boiler, fitted magnaclean and flush in a day. The pipe from the meter into the boiler depends how close they are, or do they need to go through quite a bit of walling. The external hole for the flue was already in by me, just because it is an old stone house (thick solid walls). The magnaclean isnt that expensive, around £150 i think.
My builder did a lot of the work for hiding the pipe from the meter to the boiler eg hole in floor or walls and then covering up, this can take time.
Do you have a plumber who isnt VAT registered, that'll save you 20%?
81k is the threshold - thats not a whole lot of plumbing in a year
doing it for cash in used bank notes - but then you risk warrenty issues - and its not the 90s no more.
