My son had the gaiter replaced as it had split.
The new one the independent garage fitted looks "wonky" for lack of a better word and isnt held on with metal ties, just normal cable ties. The tie isn't sat in the groove of the boot very well either if you look closely.
Should I be concerned?
Thanks for help guys.

No, the moment the wheel is turned the CV joint is going to be exposed, needs a cv joint clip, cable ties don't really work that well on the wheel side of the CV joint, work OK on the inner joint (less range of movement).I would be taking that back and getting it fitted properly.
That is the inner joint isnt it, hard to tell but isnt that the underside of the gearbox and the drain plug and the inner tie rod on the steering rack
Its shonky alright
As above the cable tie doesnt bother me , how ever its not professional and id be pissed if id payed a professional to do that- and at that do it badly. Its not exactly a difficult job to put it on right even without the right clip !
Yep, its the inner joint, nearest gearbox, passenger side.
No...
It really should have a proper metal clip, cable ties don't have strong enough pull to hold the gaiter on. The clip should be in the groove too.
If you Google all the gaiters for a Corsa C on eBay. They all have proper metal clips with them...
Also, should the gaiter be right upto the groove in the metal on the shaft?
If so, that gaiter would never fit that far along anyway, wrong gaiter if so??
i happened to be a halfshaft engineer for a well known automotive oem for several years. no, absolutely not correct!
