It's first on, last off when it comes to body fat.  For a lot of us, the belly is where it starts isn't it 🙂

My weigh in this morning leaves me 90% of the way to target. Started making sure I drink at least 3L of water a day at the weekend and it really seems to be helping.

its weird, i've mentioned it before but I have developed a clearly defined and quite impressive 4 pack. however the last 2  of 6 are swaddled in a pillow of fat, hidden from the world. Its a total bastard and I will never be truly satisfied until they are free from the shackles of the yellow stuff.

Talking about losing it in odd places - I've only lost 2 kilos and I've noticed my watch is loose!

Also I thought I was doing quite well as I didn't have a huge weight loss target and I'm nearly there - then looked on NHS BMI calculator this morning and it suggested I need to lose another 11 kilos!!

11!! No chance

Unless you're a camel, that seems quite a lot.

@jamie it felt like quite a lot to start with, but I read somewhere (that I can't find now) that you should intake about half your weight in lbs, in fluid oz of water a day. I weigh 235 lbs, so thats 117fl oz which is about 3.5L. Some of my intake will come from food obvs - so that's where I got the figure from.

I appear to lose a kilo overnight.
And that's before a morning slash so that loss is not from wee.
Is this even vaguely possible or should I buy some new scales?

@eckinspain If you do buy new scales, don't buy the ones I have, i lose about the same overnight 😉

It was discussed earlier in the thread (and it still freaks me out) but you seem to err, breathe it out while you sleep.

yes, your metabolism is still running. The brain is the organ that burns most energy and that's still running millions of processes in standby mode, you're still breathing, digesting food, regulating temperature, fighting infections, farting, and many many more.  Including getting a stonk on 3-5 times per night as well apparently....... that's got to expend a bit of effort!

The moment of truth is upon us. I am about to weigh in  Hoping to see a lb drop, but my body seems to be holding onto the last 5-10lb tighter than Rob with a sausage sarnie. If I could exercise at the mo it would be easier, but niggly injuries put paid to that.

Anyway...Gentleman and ladies, let’s see those numbers!

I'm still under the target line, just, it's definitely getting a lot harder now. <78KG now though, i saw 77.x last week then had a heavy weekend and have been on the back foot ever since.

I wish we weren't doing weigh ins on a Friday though, i get home every Thursday to something like this!  [img] [/img]

I had to go and do 20k on the turbo so i could have a bowl!

2lb on this week according to the scales. My daughter's birthday at the weekend so we went out and had pizza, but I've been like a monk the rest of the week.  Just don't get it sometimes......

Plateau smashed through with a decent 5lbs loss so nearly 1st 10lbs off since 1/1/18  (2.4kg this week, 10.8kg in total)

Thought I may have topped the biggest losers list but as I'm weighing in KG it doesn't seem to work.

Chuffed chubby!!

Finally got on the scales. After a big poo, 2x wees, stripping down and taking my watch off I just snuck 144lbs. Happy with that. But it’s really getting tough now.

I will be chuffed as the nuts, inside the m&ms I can’t eat, if I hit 140lbs target next month.

I had the feeling there would be something up with that calculation - this wasn't the issue I expected; I just forgot to add in the conversion. My apologies! I shall, I don't know, starve myself as penance?? Have fixed it, so you *are* now the top contender, Mr T.

It's funny how the mind renembers the bad times... I've had a decent dose of manflu this week and did some comfort eating inbetween the periods of monkness/starvation. 3 times (!) I had chips & curry sauce from the chippy - once was *large* chippies & double curry sauce (ultranom!!) and even had 2 pints of stout. I had to think hard about what I'd eaten over the week to renember these joyous times as my instant recall was just of being constantly hungry.

Didn't add any weight - YAY! But this makes me think that keeping the weight off is going to prove challenging as I can very easily forget from day to day that I had a "treat" yesterday and I don't need another one today.

TBF a treat ATM is usually a bread roll and not a sackful of deep fried carbness + processed to hell goop, so it still doesn't exactly derail me.

I've stopped dreaming of sausage sandwiches now - in fact have no desire to eat meat at all, but paneer! OMFG!! I'd *LOVE* some paneer. Which is weird cos, even though I quite like it, I very rarely have it.

Reached my target today.  10kgs lost.  Setting my aim on getting under 100kgs now, that's another 5.7 kgs to try and lose by the end of March.  Keeping track alongside the rest of you has really helped me stay motivated.  Bacon and pancaked to celebrate this morning though.

Bloody well done Marcgear!

Looking at your graph on the spreadsheet you've been keeping a pretty steady loss week after week. On that trajectory if you carry on doing what you're doing it'll be a massive head start on next seasons 'Easter eggcess' club 😀

Nice one Marcgear! Don't get disheartened if it rises occasionally - I'm expecting to have put on a couple of lbs by the next weigh in, so might have to tweak my strategy to keep it level.

Easter eggcess

Excellent! Now I don't have to think up a silly name for it :). Might build in some chocolate based themes to it...

This week has been a write off. -6 = pies and pasties.

Target this week was 143. Prob going to be 145-6.

End target is knackered.

Ho hum.

Thought this week would be a write off as the cold weather has upset my rhythm and kept me off the turbo for a few days. Plus I had a large kebab and a beer the other night. Had a weigh in tonight though and all seems to be good. Will see how it looks in the morning. However, can I just say the scales tonight reckon I am now at my lowest weight for almost 20 years.

2 more kilos till my new downward revised target weight 🙂

Not nececelery, just have the one pie this week and starve a bit for a couple of days and you could be back on track.

Excellent work Sheepdaddy!

144.4lbs

However, in the time it took for this shitty forum to load, I am probably at 144 now. So no change. Bit dispiriting knowing what I can eat to just maintain with no exercise.

Hard work and dedication should see me lose 4lbs in 4 weeks. Unfortunately, I lack both of those things...also, physio believes I have a tear in my meniscus and have to beg an MRI off my GP sooner rather than later.

I’ve had better weeks.

I need a virtual talking to. If anyone remembers some of my posts from last year's chubclub, I'm in danger of entering the spiral.  I can see the logic, so no sense offering that to me as an answer, i need brain cpr.

2lbs on last week, another 1lb this week. 5lbs behind target, and only 1lb lost now since starting. And at this point I go into 'what's the point' mode, I eat pretty well and it has no effect, so why bother.  As a consequence I sabotage with comfort eating, that's my crutch and I've eaten more crisps and chocolate this week than in the whole of the rest of the year so far 🙁

Yet..... I ran a PB 5k* this week (*since restarting running, it's obvs not a PB compared to when I ran regularly 25 years ago) and I'm now comfortably in the intermediate group at Bootcamp and based on numbers I'm one of the guys that steps up to advanced to even up the group sizes.  I'm fitter than I have been for 25 years. My clothing sizes are smaller, my belt is a notch in - as I say by logic I'm winning. But I'm obsessed by the number on the scales and the effect of gravity  on my body, and I can't get past that.

Someone, talk me out of this because as I say i'm swirling around the plughole right now and in danger of going down it.

Urghh, back up .2kg.

I'll blame the fact that we had a big night out on Friday and out again on Monday..... I was lighter earlier this week though 🙁

I Bought a pack of 4 crunchie bars yesterday and ate 3 of them in a row, i'm not sure i'm the person to be givng you a talking to, however, i did manage to give one away to a colleague. Maybe try giving all your crisps away? 😀

Despite crunchies and crisps I'm a winner this week after 2 weeks of plateau, stomped out some distance to complete my 1000km a month challenge and lived like a month for the rest of the week. Happy with that.

Wish I could offer you advice like you constantly offered me last year Jon,  but I'm very much in the same situation and have been all year.  Not quite sure what the answer is, other than don't be too hard on yourself and get back on it as soon as you can.

I worked my arse off to lose 2kg, and now two weeks later I'm back up.  Like you say, the "what's the point" attitude creeps in. 🙁

I don't even like junk food, sugary sweets make me feel like crap, crisps make me feel like salty crap, and takeaway food is just tasteless grease.  But I always crave it, and it seems the worse the food is, the more I want it.  Think its time I got some professional help with it, life cant revolve around food.

No change here 😐

Jon V I could have wrote all of that myself so I can’t really offer any advice.

Im on it and do well, then just as I start to get towards success I go into meltdown.

We were both here last year and I’ve been here for the past 5 years, same cycle every year.

Last year I smashed my weight loss target, ran A sub 4 London Marathon I was determined that 2017 was my year to stay reasonable and maintain all the hard work yet I ended the year 16 stone with a resting HR in the 80s 😳

....and here I am again lost 10kilos, working on the bike, resting HR back in early 50s but I know that I could easily just fall off the diet and smash the beer & crisps.

The only thing I can think of is I think you’re local to me maybe something where we introduce some sort of prescribed weekly ride / run / turbo with a weigh in and maybe a bit of non virtual rivalry might add an extra dimension of motivation/responsibility/competition to someone else?

The last few weeks haven’t been good. Had nights out, friends visiting which always results in heavy eating and drinking sessions a 40th bday with unlimited booze and the bad weather has really reduced any excessive. Throw in selling my house and in the process of buying another my mind and therefore discipline has been elsewhere.

Good news is I didn’t put anything on. I think I might have broken the habit of eating 5 big cookies as a mid morning snack then maybe the same again later.

Got dinner and a gig tomorrow which was a Xmas pressie but after that get back on the wagon properly!

According to my scales I'm 1.1kg down from last week.... but I felt the number last week was a little high anyway.  So theoretically just 1kg to go in 3 weeks.... maybe, just maybe!!

mission accomplished #WootWoot #GoMe........but I guess the hard work is in keeping the lard at bay when it tries to sneak back on

if it helps anyone else, I've only really trained myself to stop grazing between meals. given I would chomp through a block of cheese in no time, I'm equating the 8.8kg lost to 25 x 350g blocks of cheese.........which is probably what I would have eaten in the preceding 8/9 weeks if it wasn't for you lot and the record keeping.

good luck everyone

I've been losing a pound a week and have been pretty pleased with it! I was dropping a few lb a week when I started, but when I fell to about 12 and a half stone it all slowed down. 1lb a week still adds up to a lot, I've lost a total of almost 2 stone since October.

Turns out I snuck under my target last week and I've got my stones to lbs out by 1lb. Decided to keep going, 11st 13 on a 5'10" guy still looks a  little flabby and I figure if I overshoot I'll have a bit of leeway to sneak back up a bit once I come off the diet.

For the best I reckon, as of today I'm on the line and not sure how I'm going to stay below it or how the bejesus I'm going to shift 4.1kgs (9lbs in old money) in 3 weeks to get my target.....

Fantastic work, those who've already met their goal!

I'm still wallowing about at a 4-5 lbs loss since we started, but it's not frustrating, I know I only have myself to blame for the mediocre loss. Although without the CC, I'd be 4-5 lbs heavier than I am now, so it's not all doom and gloom 🙂

Would be nice to get another couple of pounds off in the next few weeks. My weekly bike miles have been increaasing recently, thanks to the stretching light, so hopefully that'll help.

Keep on keeping on CC!

Just to say thanks to Rob for the weekly emails. I don't dip in here too often but the weekly reminders are an amusing distraction from the biscuit tin, of which I have been frequenting a little too much of late... 😉

Not managed to get much exercise done over the past 3 weeks with a hectic work/life schedule and have also been a bit slack on the weigh-ins.

Last weigh-in I did I'd plateaued at 76.5kg's for a couple of weeks, even with the lack of proper (gym/bike) exercise the intervening weeks spent walking around freezing cold building sites and refusing to give in to the constant call of sausage sandwiches and cake has resulted in a drop of another 1kg, so 3 weeks to go and only 0.5kg left to reach my goal.

Now the weather has improved and work isn't so crazy I can get back on it and try to better my target.

Thanks for the encouraging emails Rob, well done to those who have reached and surpassed there initial target weights, and good luck to those still firmly in the fight!

Well done to all who've taken the bull by the horns and shifted some kgs.

Been slow progress for me, but I've started to put my back into it - totally given up snacking for over a month now. Have to say I thought this would be huge given the grazing I do, esp at the weekend, but it's only led to a modest couple of kilo loss thus far. Done very little cycling, though, with illness and being away. Back in the saddle now so things might pick up a bit.

Absolutely no change, despite,

- Fair bit of exercise

- Decent daily calorie deficit

- Very few carbs

- No booze

and for the first time I'm above my target line on the graph... grrrrrr

Hard work this getting thin, getting fat is much easier and I'm very good at it!!!

Well done to all those that are winning, I think staying the course 3 months in is the hard bit.....

(edit: just need to remind myself I've already lost 2 stone this year and that it's bound to be slow going for the next 1-2st)

Well, bollocks. I'm above the target line for the first time and wondering if i'm going to get there at all as i've been yoyoing about all over the place the last few weeks. People are commenting that I look thin and i'm down 2% bodyfat on my entirely unscientific scales.

Need more discipline in the evenings 🙁

*humble brag*

Accidentally lost three times more than I was planning to lose this week- 3lb rather than 1lb. Means I've lost a total of 2 stone since I started in October!

I think I've found the key to success - have a wife who is living elsewhere. My wife's been away for a week so I've ridden my bike lots, not had biscuits or cakes in the house (the key to female happiness is biscuits and cakes I've found) and had nothing to nibble on.

I will celebrate with pudding.

Talking of fluctuations, I jumped on the scales this morning (yep I can jump now rather than waddle) and they were rewarded me with a reading of 84.7 - they said I was 85.3 on Friday!

I was a good boy yesterday but I'll have to wait and see what happens at next week's weigh in.

If it's a real reading then I'm below my target for this round of the CC!!!

Need to reset my ambitions 😁

Right need some inspiration!!

Cant seem to easily break 14st and I’ve been stuck hovering at the same weight for a month. (Still lots to lose, I don’t get a ‘normal’ BMI until 12st7)

I’m sticking to 1500 cals a day (more at weekends admittedly but not mental)

Carbs are lowish

Only had 1 beer this year 🙁

I’m doing a reasonable amount of exercise.

Just need some ideas as it’s getting annoying i feel I’m doing enough but it obviously isn’t!

Carbs are lowish

Try making them lower.  All I have done is stop eating bread, pasta, rice, pots and biscuits/sugary crap and I'm down about 13kg since the beginning of December (I probably had a week off for xmas).

I'm not doing any excercise and still have a few beers at most weekends (nothing during the week), so I could have lost more.

I REALLY don't miss pasta.

I don't think I could do a low calorie diet.

Ditto, cut out bread and spuds and won't eat anything that I couldn't make myself from bought in ingredients. Kind of means I end up with a trolley full of veggies, fruit, dairy and meat. For snacks it is nuts, fruit or an oat biscuit with honey. I also seem to get stuck around the 14 stone mark (last 2 wight loss attempts have ended there. Have gone past now and heading for sub 13 if I carry on like this. Keep at it.

Yep, that’s the annoying thing!

i don’t eat bread, pasta, potatoes, biscuits the only carbs I get are Fruit & Veg & Milk

Typically I have fewer than 100g of carbs a day.

A big thanks to Rob for organising this - it's the first time I've done this and the spreadsheet (and having a goal written down) has really helped.

Last week was the first week I've put weight back on, but it was my daughter's birthday party and rugby on Saturday (yes I weighed in late) so not surprising.

Need to try to get that kilo back off again this week before a wedding on Saturday (with curry!)

As others have said for me it's the lack of carbs that's really helped. This last week has been eating all the leftover carb-heavy party food which would explain the weight gain.

No second breakfast today so off to a good start to the week!

Right getting back on it, and going to see if getting back on my 5:2 regime helps kick start both a bit of loss and also restarts my enthusiasm.

WLT get under 13.7 quickly (like a couple of weeks - currently at 13.11 i think) which would then be a victory, and trying to get close to 13st (maybe 13.3/13.4 by last weekend of April), 'cos I'm going on a weekend away when food and beer will be consumed and narcissist as i am, I'd like my mates (and their wives) to be a bit 8o at my fitbod.

Tiger - try ditching the fruit for a week and see what happens.

I forgot to mention that I've not eaten fruit either in an attempt to get rid of as much sugar intake as possible - it's a bit painful as I love my fruit but.....

My meals are basically the same as the rest of the family but substituting white stuff with green and orange veg.  If they're having something that doesn't fit in with this then I have fish with lots of veg.

This weekend I discovered that mayonnaise, lemon juice and a decent squirt of mustard makes a pretty good substitute for Hollandaise sauce.

Oh yes, and shit loads of eggs!

I’ll ditch the fruit but we’re not talking a lot though

Veg & salad stay

I’m gonna try up the water intake, reduce the coffee (& therefore milk)

and I think try different exercises, I’m 100% cycling and I think my body is basically very very very used to it.

Running and body weight exercise beckons I think...grrrrrrr

Well....seems like eating less and riding virtual bike rides has helped..

Good results this week but still over my target line but pulling it back, a lot to go in a week....

1.7kg off this week (nearly 4lbs) - Yay!!

30lbs lost so far this year (13.6kg) - pleased with that!

2.4kg to target! - 1 week to go

Good work that man!

2.4kg to target! – 1 week to go

Wouldn't worry about it; don't forget this is a long-term thing. And new targets will be set very shortly anyhow 🙂 🙂

And BOOM.

A combination of plenty of Zwifting, continued low carb/no bread diet, and getting no sleep and loads of stress now we have started lambing have knocked over a kilo off last weeks total. Now to see if I can keep it off. Next target is sub 80 which is getting back into sixth form weight of over 30 years ago 🙂

Thanks to everyone for coming along for the ride and supporting each other along the way. It definitely makes it easier knowing you are not suffering alone.

144.6.

Basically I have stayed the same weight for a month now. Which, given intake and lack of exercise, is an achievement in itself I guess.

Think I am going to stay in this holding pattern and push on for the next ‘summer bod bikini edition fat club’ to get the lasts 5lbs off. Hopefully I will be less decrepit at that point so I can exercise without a joint snapping.

I would just like to take time out from my moaning to thank Rob for doing this. He is the hero we don’t deserve and his portly enthusiasm has helped week in and week out. To be honest, this thread is the only reason I come back to this forum these days, so well done everyone, Rob and those like Jon who did previous rounds. 👍

I am now going to press submit and wait a few mins for my post to send and hope I don’t get redirected or logged out in the meantime.

Yay.... if my scales [same ones I'e used all the way through] are to be believed then I'm over the line 🙂

Started early December when I was looking at 98kg and now <85kg.  I feel better and must have done myself some good.  It's not really been difficult and I think that cutting out bread, rice, pasta and biscuits/cakes is now my lifestyle choice.

Roll on next week and the then Chub Club v18.2 so I can aim for the totally unseen world of > 80kg!!!!

Edit: I really should start doing some exercise!

Back to where I was 4 weeks ago, I've not been on a massive effort on the food front but I've certainly been thinking about intake more and thought that banging out the km would bring me on a downward curve. Makes me wonder how big I would be if i hadn't started to keep an eye on things?  Do MTB miles burn that many more calories than road/turbo miles? That's the only difference in my life at the moment.

Roll on the arrival of a new mtb!

Mt MTB its like HIIT, short sharp busts of power and then freewheel, concentrate on trail etc. and cause I enjoy it more and tend to ride longer (this may not be true for you 😉 )

Turbo is more steady state with odd very short sprints

Ffs, after doing well for a while I stopped logging my calories on mfp and it’s been a disaster. Diet has gone back to where it was with copious donuts and cakes, throw in a couple of social events and meals for anniversary and I am back up a few pounds.

this it’s time to go back to January’s no alcohol and religiously logging everything. Doing the smoke ring challenge and back to back 100 mile off road days mean I need to shed as much timber as possible!

If it wasnt for this reminder coming in every week I wouldn’t have realised what has happened so big kudos to rob for keeping us honest!
