I live in a small flat with hard floors and limited storage space. Using a broom for cleaning at the moment but I'm quite lazy.
Any recommendations for a cheap, compact vacuum? Amazon has a few Chinese Dyson copies around £70 which look like they'll be ok, are the cheaper brands like Hoover just going to be the same thing with a more expensive logo?
G-tech do a decent job and are really light and compact. We’ve had ours maybe 3 years now and still doing a good job of carpets and hard floors.
Bought my Dyson from argos in the sales for £99 plus cash back. Its OK but wouldn't want to clean a flat with it. A car maybe but still not as good as my proper vac.
We just got a Gtech, only used it a couple of times but seems really good.
Dyson V11 here, opposite end of the spectrum to what you're looking at. It's ok, not worth what we paid for it though.
Got a Dyson cordless. Rubbish, don't bother. Battery last about five mins on full power, which isn't enough to get the crumbs out from between the kitchen floorboards. Filter get clogged even more often the battery wants charged.
Will have a Henry next, work and old work both had them and they just work adn seem to last forevet.
There is literally a thread about this on here every other week.....
They mostly seem to be about Brexit. Not planning on selling a bike to buy one anyway, hence looking at the cheap ones.
Yep another fool who went down the Dyson route, on my second now. Got about 3 years out of last one. Battery life was pap, constantly having to poke my fingers in and unblock.
Will be getting an upright soon and just using the cordless for the stairs.
No clue on the cheap Chinese Dyson copies, personally I wouldn't though. Looking at Which? reviews anything under £100 gets really bad reviews and the only one that gets a decent review under £200 is the Vax Blade 2 32V (they're all brand name models though). Happy with my Dyson v10 personally (and anyone saying they don't have much suction power is talking bollocks, it lifts the carpets on max) but yes they're stupidly over-priced.
got a 32v blade here second hand for 70 quid.
Its good but not as good on hard floors as i would like as the brush restricts air flow if you dont use it. The extension is a little wobbily but that may be because its second hand. Id buy it again though.

Yeah they're good until some hair or an old sweet wrapper or something gets caught in the roller and strips the plastic cogs that drive it. 😒

I know! I read them all too! 😆
Very happy with our Dyson. the upright hasn't been used since we got it. Plenty of suction and the battery life is adequate. Obviously they are way out the budget mentioned but there are plenty second hand (or the Argos or Dyson outlet stores, but I think they will still be too much). I think I'd rather do that than buy a cheap copy, especially if you can get one of the more recent ones.
Thanks, will keep an eye out for refurbs of models I can find reviews for.
We've got a Dyson cordless. Its absolutely shite! Needs emptying every 5 minutes, which isn't usually a problem as it only lasts about 3 minutes before it needs charging. Always gets blocked up.
Dyson is a triumph of marketing to gullible idiots like me. I'd never buy another one
This works well in vacuum mode
