Evening everyone.

On the lookout for a new vacuum cleaner and fancy a cordless number. We currently have two Miele Animal cylinder jobs, one over 10 years old, working and reprieved from car duties and a newer one that is busted.

Any thoughts on the Bosch, AEG or G-tech models for dealing with the detritus a Jack Russell and 12 year old daughter can deposit on laminate and carpet floors?

Please don't suggest a Dyson, I just don't like 'em.

Thanks

I bought this after the John Lewis reviews were good, I've had it just under a year and yet to find fault. Goes over bumpy slate kitchen floor fine and carpet/rugs easily. I don't know about laminate floors because I dislike them so wouldn't know what its like over that surface. It comes with extension pipe and carry loop when using it slung over your shoulder/back. Takes about an hour and a half to charge fully, comes with three speed suction.

My parents have one of the original G-Tech models and love it. Find it light and effective, but not sure how much mess they make compared to your family.

^^ that Bosch is the same as mine! It vacuums ok, but what a pain in the arse to dismantle the thing and reassemble every time you want to use the extension pipe! Wish I'd bought something else.

Bought a GTech one for my mum and she loves it. Thinking of replacing my Dyson.

I too will be re-visiting. Always thought Dysons to be overpriced for their cordless range and hoping someone has something better performing for less.

I had heard the Bosch were a PITA to disassemble. Trip to Cribbs (shudder) at the weekend for a look see. Bosch in John Lewis and G-tech in Lakeland, I'll have a play.

I don't find the attachment too hard to fit, it's one button click and the heads off.. but I suppose in this world the Maid does yours so she must be really annoyed..

The chamber that holds the "crap" doesn't hold much, so if you vacuum twice a week like I do you'll need to clean it out regularly..

V6 absolute refurb eBay store £209 First dyson I've had. It's good. Needs emptying a lot but 2 kids and a beach makes a lot of sandy fluffy foodie mess.

G-Tech very good, and the G-Tech multi is very good for car/motorhome cleaning.
You need to rinse the filter every month or so (depending on use).
I add some zoflora disinfectant to the rinse water. When you vacuum it's like using air freshener, plus when smell stops being pronounced, it's time to clean filter again.

My missis likes her Dyson too. There was a decent discount on them recently, I assume there's a new model coming out. She went for it over the G Tech because I think you need 2 for hand held and upright with the G Tech, but not with the Dyson.

I could be wrong about that, but it's a thread about hoovers, and I can't summon up the enthusiasm to check my facts. Soz.

There is always a new model coming out, latest V8 Turbo Absolute is over £500! For a cordless vacuum!

Madness I tell thee....

NB We have a much cheaper basic Dyson handheld and it's OK, nothing amazing mind.

I had a Dyson many years ago and swore never again. It just felt like the cheapest plastic they could find.

No maid in my house, Mrs Neila doesn't do vacuuming, I don't clean toilets.

I believe there is a deal for a G-tech and multi at the moment but that is pushing the bunce outlay upwards. I'll have a play with the Bosch and see if I can break it getting it apart.

It's all pretty standard ABS.

My only issues with Dyson are design rather than build quality, which seems very good.

That something else I dont like about it - its messy to empty. So I only use it a couple of times a year 8)

No complaints with our Bosch. It sucks as good as a White house whore. Allegedly 8O.

I've got a Bosch athlet as some others, it was cheap (£70 amazon daily deal) works great, much better than the dyson my parents use however definitely not as flexible.
