I've lots a key to my 2000 Primera. Nissan want lots to replace it.
A while ago my NATS alarm was playing up so I had it disabled. Does that mean i can get a key cut from the local key cutter?
I had the same problem with my Renault van when somebody lost the spare - with much prompting and a minor tantrum on my part they confessed that they could sell one that doesn't work the central locking for £30 as opposed to £200, central locking broke years ago anyway.
Stick your chest out and ask to speak to the manager !
Google for "spare car keys".
There are blokes in vans who will come round and cut you a new key for much less than the dealerships
It depends if there is a chip in the key to take off an immobiliser. Recently enquired about getting a spare key for my '03 Fiesta at my local main stealer:
Key with chip - £110
Key with chip/central locking fob - £160
I left it.
Incidentally Timpsons could do be the regular chipped key for £75.
Some keys have the chip for the immobiliser (not necessarily part of the alarm) in the key, this needs to match the ignition or even a properly cut replacement key won't work. You can re-program some keys yourself with a combination of using a correct key and unlocking/locking car with key in various position.
Have a search on the internet for your model of car, there is bound to be some info on it. My Toyota Corolla had a key which could not be copied or easily re-programmed and I would have had to pay £120 for a new key.
Alternatively you could go to a scrap yard and buy a new ignition module, keys and alarm for your car. Not normally too much oney but you need to know what you are doing obviously.
