That was some precision work. Right in the old 'dead mans curve' though, in a single engine craft, pro pilots In the uk would love to slate that bit of flying. Wouldn't be entirely surprised if the instructor is a combat vet, the ex mil guys seem a little less erm, risk averse in my experience...

Especially the bit about how there seemed to be no downdraught from the choppers rotors.

Not many places other than the military where you learn to fly like that with that level of confidence. The comment about how he spots everything gives it away as well, they have a level of situational awareness above and beyond most civvie pilots.

That mans put many thousands of hours into flying.

Very nice.
Could have used him last year when a mates Transall RC plane was stuck in a tree for a month.
Was at the very top in a tree with no branches to climb, stayed there until a storm a month later.
