This is a work related help request - since my local IT department seems to be unable or unwilling to answer this question
Where I work we take the HDMI output from a Sky box and convert in to an analogue signal which we pump out round the building on the existing Co-ax. Why this has been done is a long story of poor decisions and 'cost savings' in the past.
Obviously this means that we cannot send any signals round in HD quality or receive the channels on devices which can't receive analogue signals.
What I want to find out is there a way of taking an HDMI input and converting it to a digital signal so that it appears on the TV's and other devices just as another digital channel. I've had a peer round the internet, but I am not sure that I am asking the right questions, since my technical knowledge does not stretch this far. We have already discounted IPTV based solutions!
Not that I know of .
You could run cat6 everywhere how deep are the pockets your company
