The woman has one of these e-reader things, but somehow bought a naff copy (that cost twice as much, what the chuff???) called a Bookene. It uses .epub files but she's found that the Amazon site has a much broader selection of books, but only in kindle format.
She's downloaded an Amazon e-book and 2 different programs to convert it but neither has worked. This is on a Mac.
Has anyone used a program that definitely works? Doesn't have to be on a Mac, I have a normal computer.
Thanks!
Has she tried Calibre? It's an unwieldy bastard of an app, but should do what you want.
Tutorial here. Pay attention to step 4, as that is probably why the other apps failed.
...failing that. Chuck the Bookene in the bin, and buy a Kindle 🙂
Jamie +1 on both counts.
I (or rather, she) shall try that Jamie, thanks.
I find calibre very easy to use. I don't bother with the kindle software anymore.

It's available for both Mac and WIn, so either way you should be ok.

I have not used it for a year-ish, and when I did...on a Mac at least, it was unpolished to put it politely. Got the job done though.
