Hello all,
I'm constantly amazed by the help I see on offer on here so now I've got the flattery out of the way I wonder if anyone has a useful solution or idea for a problem I face!
My colleague has developed in excel a document that shows major milestones and activities that we input into on a typical project. The milestones are hyperlinked to document templates or actual documents. Virtually all of these documents are stored in sharepoint.
Rather than sending people to sharepoint to keep chasing down endless lists of documents to find the right document we would like things a bit prettier and interactive. we also think just recreating the excel chart each time is not a good idea as we don't want the average user to be able to ruin it. How could we best transfer the project layout from excel into perhaps a web based chart that has clickable hyperlinks and ability to edit colours to show status etc.? Is there any way of creating this type of interactive chart in sharepoint? I can see a Gantt chart but don't know if you can link documents to milestones.
I have average sharepoint and excel ability.
Cheers,
Sid

Yes there are. Google excel web services and sharepoint. If you're the admin of the sharepoint (or have the required access) you can basically set up a "window" on a page that "looks into" an excel file - meaning multiple users can view the same document without opening the actual excel file (but they can if they want). So you could create the links inside the file - or create a landing page (think normal HTML code) and have two frames/windows showing on the same page.
