It’s that time again - shopping around for car tyres dullness.

Always tend to go for Good Year Efficient Grip Performance but might try Conti Sport Contact 5 or their newer Premium Contact 6 for a change. Anyone got any experience of either? Golf 2.0 TDI GT btw if that matters - cheers

That’s what I usually fitted. I’m still alive.

Sports are a bit softer so will wear a bit quicker.

I really rated the premium contact 5 I had on a Volvo 2.4 turbo.

I may be wrong but I'm sure I read that the premium contact 6 is a hybrid between the sport and the premium due to a change of model naming convention .. Either way you can't really go wrong with continental in my experience.

Not a fan of Conti car tyres. The tread on the shoulders isn't full depth, so they look worn out too soon.

Eh? The premiums and sports consistently trade blows with other premium tyres at the top end of the table in multiple tests by different sources. What you're saying is that you prefer form over function? It's a tyre not a cocktail dress 😉

Probably no good for roosting berms though 😀

I use Sportcontacts and Wintercontacts on all my cars - rate them for performance and wear.

I am not a huge fan of them for sports tyres, they gripped well enough but found they wear rate high.  This was on three series BMW low profile tyres, other profiles may be different

All the continental tyres I've known (a pair on a beemer end 4 on a VW jetta) perished on the sidewall before being even close to using all their tread.  5mm left on one pair.

Lifespan of less than 5 years, so you may want to consider your mileage/wear rates of tyres normally.

I really rate my wintercontacts, way better than the snowproxes they replaced. But my dad had premium contacts on his focus and as above, they preished and cracked after about 4 years and they'd done at most 10000 miles (and were kept inflated, used fairly regularly etc)

I'm about 2 weeks into a set of Bridgestone Adrenalin's. It's been super wet here and seem impressively grippy. (but this is compared to worn p-zeros so not a scientific study in any way!)

Always had the Contisport Contacts on the Passat and they perform impeccably.
