Long story short....
I ordered some furniture online. Was told a delivery date, nothing turned up. Chased company, was told another date (eventually after two weeks of phone calls). Nothing turned up.
Several more weeks of phone calls and i still have no furniture.
Today i called and stated i wanted to cancel the order for a full refund. I have just recieved an email saying that they have opened a "returns case" which will take 2 - 3 days to review. If accepted i can expect a refund within a further 28 days. I am fuming!
Can they keep my money this long?
Social Media if applicable and email to CEO/MD.
I've no idea of your consumer rights on this occasion but it's clear you're being dicked around so it's time to just do whatever you need to do to get your money back.
Yes, but what are my rights? What timescale does the company have, legally to refund my money?
I expect legally it'll be a bit vague and just need them to be "reasonable". Any legal action would take way longer than 28 days anyway.
IIRC if they miss delivery date you have the right to cancel and they must return your money with no delay. I can't be bothered to check

IANAL but there are different rules if it's an 'off the shelf' vs something you've had built to fit.
Whether that makes a difference (eg: made to measure furniture vs true bespoke) might affect the rights.
This isn't a website which sells look a like designer furniture by any chance is it ?
I had a total nightmare with one of those lot.
Credit card?
Section 75 chargeback it.
@tragically1969 i have no problem naming and shaming - its furniture 123
If the order is late and they can't give you a suitable date for another delivery, you are entitled to cancel the order. IIRC they have 14 days to do this. You're also entitled to cancel the sale for a full refund within 30 days of delivery - moot in this case as they've not delivered.
I fail to see how it's a "returns case," you've not received the goods. There's nothing to review, you're cancelling the order. A line I like to use is "just so we're clear, you're refusing to honour my statutory rights? Can I take your name please?"

Your statutory rights are different for MTM vs OTS though.
