Our current conservatory is in need of replacement. Leaking roof, blown windows and the normal too hot/too cold.
Give me some inspiration for things we could do to replace/improve what we've got. Ideally we'd like to replace size for size to make use of the footings..
I do like having a glass roof but is there a glass that means we can actually use the roof all year round?
Our current one:
We did that, brick base with double glazing and polycarbonate roof, Chuffing useless, too cold in winter, too hot summer, never used it in 2 years even with a big rad, after some local research We got sehbac to replace glass/roof with modern dg with ?pilkington special k? Glass ( might be a glass cereal mixup there) but it’s something like one pane is coated and keeps sun out, inner pane keeps heat in , You seemed to be able to choose pane qualities if you see what I mean. Anyway, now a lovely light room, in full year round use, also changed rad to high output vertical for more wall space.
*guess , bout 2/3 size of yours (but stupid octagonal end) 21k , 3 years interest free including plastering and flooring and lights and leccy, lights go round top edge of walls in a sort of solId band (1ft wide)but full glass Roof
Other option was a local builder who suggested brick pillars, flat roof with a big ‘lantern window’ or whatever those prebuilt stick on top glass roof bits are called, mrs preferred full glass.
