Staying at Park Coppice over next weekend and looking for some new route ideas:
1. 15K ish
2. 30K ish
Have riddenTorver to Walna Scar to Coniston apart from the epic climb up Walna this was a cracker.
Grizedale Parkamoor down to High Nibthwaite and then back round to the forest East of Satterthwaite. The descent off Parkamoor was also a cracker but has been resurfaced apparentl so has lost its technically and fun?
Have also ridden West of Blawith.
Are there any cracking routes we have missed as we quite fancy a change?
Cheers.
As ever I'm completely flummoxed by people targeting to parkamoor as a descent. Lake Coniston anti clockwise is great. Semi Walna- Torver, Torver Common, up parkamoor, north then west down Lawson Park back to start.
If that's too short then add 3 witches and breasty haw
If I’m going over Breasty Haw I’d often head over to the Cuckoo Brow pub at Far Sawrey, then over Claife. Before the Colthouse descent to Hawkshead was ruined I’d have done that then Iron Keld. These days I’d drop down on one of the bridleways to Windermere then round via Wray.
Broughton moor and the duddon valley ftw, back over walna scar for a new definition of pain and suffering
If you're feeling Charley big potatoes then add in wallowbarrow, harter fell and back over hardknott (or up the road to birds bridge and back down wallowbarrow to the foot of walna) the rewilded woods in hardknott forest will be stunning this time of year
Semi Walna- Torver, Torver Common, up parkamoor, north then west down Lawson Park back to start.
There's not a great deal in it - WS down to Torver hits tarmac quite quickly, and most of the descent off Torver Common in that direction is also tarmac. I'd agree that Parkamoor is a pretty good way to climb up now. Don't know what state Lawson Park is in currently, but the BW descent which starts a bit further towards High Cross is much better these days, quite rocky in places.
If OP has done the short version of Torver - WS - Coniston then he should extend that by going up the fire road in Broughton Forest as far as Natty Bridge, then doubling back on the other side of the river towards Stephenson Ground, then across Long Mire and down to Seathwaite, lots of good descending there.
Then a pint at the Newfield, if the legs are still good, as suggested climb up to come back down via Wallowbarrow, great descent, otherwise just hit the push back up WS.
Turning left at the WS car park instead of descending via tarmac takes you over to a footpath which descends to the south side of Church Beck, it's a lovely descent, but be considerate of whatever walkers are still around.

Good points.
If you go clockwise you could do church Beck as you say, or someone recently said the other bridleway from WSR to the pub in Bowmanstead is good....
The road at the end of Torver Common is a real shame as you say. I always head right on the little footpath, but it does get boggy st the bottom
Thanks all.
It's been a few years since we've ridden round there so appreciate the up to date knowledge.
Are there trails in the felled area - supernoodle etc rideable again?
The rain was biblical but rode / floated / splashed three witches, breasty haw and lawson park
Even going round the lake was bottom bracket deep!
Great fun but still drying my boots out now.
Thanks for the tips. Need to include the fox next time and BW down Devils Gallop to see if that's any good.
Sadly both fox and devil's gallop got sanitised, so don't build your next ride around those.
