Mrs Reeksy is considering getting an ergo. She was a very good sculller 20 years ago, but we live too far from a suitable watercourse for her to get back in a boat.

So I’d love to know from anyone that has experience of the standard Concept2 rower and the newer Dynamic version, and has experience as a sculler whether the Dynamic truly is more like real rowing?

Row perfect is worth a look if she’s lost that sculling feeling. https://www.rp3rowing.co.uk/

Some experience with a much earlier version years ago. Worked well for technique development and control but found it harder to nail a session to a split or set a time. But, I was always best in the middle of an 8. Depends what you're looking for, a water rower may offer another element of the experience.

Ooh, they look pretty special. Although we’re in Oz and they won’t ship here

I would say, ignore the fluff (inc water rowers etc) and just get the normal C2 unit. Not being funny a vast majority of users 'will be hanging clothes off of it inside 3 months' (std comment from an ex-rower when someone mentions they are going to buy one). Think about the re-sale.

If we had the space we would have one.

10 years a rower, and surrounded by ex-and current rowers

OH 'desperately' wanted the concept 2. She ordered one, there was a long waiting list.
It sits forlornly in the corner. I've used it more, but I prefer zwift due to the utter tedium of the rower.
She said there wasn't room with my zwift setup in the way, so I moved the turbo to the conservatory. The rower still sits in the corner.

My OH is not like that. She’ll wear shoes until they fall apart before she gets new ones. If she gets an ergo it will likely get 30 mins every other day minimum.

There is an application called EXR which is basically zwift for rowers. I tried it when it was in beta, when it basically didn't have enough of  a world to keep, but assuming there is enough expansion now could help to motivate.

Re Rowperfect availability in Oz; there is/was? an Australian side of the operation, which would preclude the European operation from shipping to Oz. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/RowPerfect

If the rowperfect looks interesting, then definitely edge towards the dynamic C2 range - they adopt the same principles, and arrange a demo if you can. Spares might be a concern, so factor that in too.

As did I! It's stored upright so not taking up much spaces, but there it stays. Probably getting it on eBay this weekend
(even I know this is BS, I won't do it)
