We are looking to replace our current front door with a composite but am unsure of the threshold type differences. I understand you can get a standard or low threshold but I'm wondering if the low thresholds are as wind resistant as standard ones. The orientation of the front of the house is quite exposed so would like whatever is best at keeping out the wind etc. Does anyone here have any experiences of both?

Ta muchly!

We had a new composite door with low threshold fitted 2 years ago. We live on a really windy and exposed road and have had no problems whatsoever. Our door came from www.door-stop.co.uk

We had a solidor composite door fitted, good quality door but found that the low threshold caused cold bridging resulting in condensation internally along the tresh

I've a low threshold on my composite door, it's leaked once driving rain that was blowing horizontally into the door.

Threshold should ideally have a thermal break.

Cheers guys. I'll get prices for both low and standard thresholds and take it from there. Has anyone used used Stevenswood? http://www.stevenswood.co.uk/

Low threshold if youre old, or have mobility /sight problems, wheelchair user etc, normal threshold if you can see and are able to step over it, the higher threshold will also stop any puddling water entering the property.
