We are looking to replace the existing composite door and wood frame with a new composite door. Was just looking for recommendations. It seems Rockdoor, Solidor and Endurance are quoted often. Any recommendations would be very welcome. We are in Leeds if there are recommendations of good fitters etc. Thanks for your anticipated help.

We had a I think a Eurocell made composite door fitted 9 years ago. It's o.k. I've had to adjust it recently as it had dropped and was hard to actuate the lock by lifting the handle.

It's red and has faded a bit, you can see a line where the evening sun hits the door. The hardware is by Yale and the chrome letter box flap has started to corrode. We've also got a thumb turn on the lock. This acts as a cold bridge in winter and often gets condensation on it on really cold days.

We have a Rockdoor (co-incidentally, they are made in Leeds). After approx four years it developed huge crack right into the core and it had to be replaced under warranty which took about 10 weeks to sort out.

Purely anecdotal I know, but that's my experience. Other than the massive failure, the door itself seems good (apart from a couple of scratches it looked as good as new when it was replaced last month) and I may have just been unlucky.

Also have two Rockdoors. They're ok. I have to tighten up some of the screws/bolts on the handle and the metal trim occasionally. Really ought to put some loctite on next time as I'm sure that'd stop them coming loose.

I got a Solidoor one a couple of years ago, seemed to generally get the best reviews at the time but I think each manufacturer has a mix of good and bad reviews. Mine's been fine since (installation had a couple of issues but that was the fitter's fault and they resolved it next visit)

Mine is a DoorStop. My only complaint is that it has faded a bit but does get a lot of sun. (colour is chartwell green so already quite pale - don't know if some colours are more susceptible?).
