I have a set of files - music, mainly - on my NAS and also on an old PC. What's the easiest way to compare the two sets of files, and check any differences - in size, tagging etc?
Cheers
Winmerge is free and easy to use for size bit, doubt it has any support for the tags though.
Quick google shows there might be something available to do it, though: http://lifehacker.com/395896/de+duplicate-your-data-with-free-tools
Well the very easiest (assuming you are running Windows) is to right click on the folder on each drive containing the said files and then left click 'Properties'.
This will show you how many files there are in the folder and the total size.
I tend to use this method 99% of the time to see if there are any differences.
If there are then I dig down manually to see what's missing

Cheers all, appreciate the help
TotalCommander trial version will do this too and also help you synch files in either direction
