It was a design choice, in order to retain rear headroom, without altering the overall roofline of the car.
Personally, I wish they spent more time on the ride height, there's too big a gap between the top of the wheels and the arches.
You know you should be looking up the road rather than staring at the back of the car in front, don't you? 🙂
