I'd like to keep some kind of Hoover near the hearth for minor tidying up jobs. Maybe use it in the car and garage occasionally. I'm no planning to hoover large quantities out of the woodburner itself although I might use it for a good clean inside the woodburner on it's yearly decommissioning after the bulk of the ash has been binned.

This is just too big for convenient storage, although I could tolerate it if it was the only option:

So is there a handheld hoover cordless or corded preferably bagless with a washable filter that would be good for this purpose? Budget would ideally be around the £30 but happy to pay more for a perfect solution, or less for a 'disposable' hoover that could be replaced from time to time after a short life of abuse.

Same here, but I'd like a cordless that will charge from both mains and 12v so I can use it to keep the fireplace tidy in winter (at the moment I just brush all the mess under the stove and vacuum it once a week) and keep it in the campervan in summer.

I like the look of the Makita DCL range especially with the wide foot on it, but for £40 its barebones and that makes the batteries unaffordable if you don't already have them, and it still doesn't solve the van charging problem.
