I need a fairly decent camera for mainly macro photography on field site visits. An SLR would be ideal but I want something smaller and easier to use (preferably cheaper too). If it is easy to whip out or carry about I am more likely to use it. Recommendations please? Is the Cannon Ixus any good?
As per previous threads - Sony RX100 - choose the model according to which one you can only just afford.
Have a look at a mirrorless camera.
I have a Sony Alpha A6000 and it is very good, with the smaller zoom lens it will still fit in a jacket pocket.
sony RX100 - the bestest
The mkII of the Canon G7x is worth a look as well, no EVF but longer zoom and less geeky controls.
More money than the cheaper Rx100s though
Sony rx100. As per previous post - pick the mk according to budget however the mk1 is stunningly good and the cheapest.
Another Rx100 vote. Base model £250 on the high street. Only move up the range if you want features that the base model doesn't have
