You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Finished work at 10 last night in Didcot, called in to see a mate who's about to do a charity ride and had a couple of pints of muscle relaxant and then headed off down Route 544 in the rain. For some reason yesterday I didn't really notice the rain on either commute, simply got on with enjoying riding. Just round the back of Harwell campus on the traily/muddy section I see lightish blurs ahead of me and just assume it is my lights reflecting off puddles and hitting trees. Wrong.
I get closer and there are 5 deer walking down the path. About ten yards from them I stop and they stop and turn and look at me through the rain and just stayed there, According to the Garmin I was stationary for under 2 minutes but it did feel pretty special as they just looked back in the light from my Solarstorm.
Then they slowly started to amble away, with me following at their pace. They found a gap in the hedge and vanished leaving me feeling really, really happy. Don't get the chance to get close to much biggish wildlife in South Oxfordshire
Woke up this morning still buzzing. I really need a GoPro...

Nah. Memories are better.
So are you in love with one of the deers? And when you say buzzing....
I achieve much the same feeling on my daily commute into and out of That Lahndahn, by letting the ladies go first.
Improves the view.

+1
GoPro just makes you obsess over pointless detail, and bore others with slighty rubbish films.
Anyone one wnat to buy a goPro?
Love seeing critters on my commute. Deer are pretty rare, but just common things like rabbits, mice and squirrels are cool.
Been working late recently so riding home after dark, getting buzzed by bats and the odd owl, chasing whatever my light picks out for them.
Had that happen on Cannock Chase many years ago.
Big old stag decided I was to wait for him to amble off the trail.
I was happy to oblige.

Big old stag once decided he wasn't going to share the trail with me one evening as I was returning from work. I was happy to back down and reverse in an ungainly manner.......
