I love the Nessie, love the Tea Cakes, love the Broons, it's so strange hearing John Barrowman in a scottish accent though...

I think its ok. Amazing how much stuff was created in Scotland.

I am not a real jock or weege, only an adopted one.

Rapidly backpedalling on my claimed Scottish heritage. Could they have made that intro more cliched? Just dreadful.

I started watching but it reminded me of a cheaper version of Children in Need. Watching Dirty Harry instead.

It's not as if the world is watching, the commonwealth games are in their death throws, no one is interested any more.

Should there be an interpreter about when the local accent is getting stronger? I don't understand a word. 😆

... spot those that consume plenty of deep fried Mars bar yet?

Crikey that bloke -> Rod Stewart ... 😯

Edit: 100% better than Olympics opening ceremony ... as the Scottish are not taking this too seriously.

Well done because they make me laugh. It is so bad that it is good. 😆

I didn't know John Hannah played the pipes 😛

I think the Scots on this thread suffer from self deprecation...and most English from ill founded arrogance.

*yes vote looks more attractive* 😛

I'm taking this as evidence that Scotland needs to remain part of the UK - just can't be trusted not to nause it up on its own.

I think they should use someone with very strong Glaswegian accent or they are not Scottish without speaking like Rab C. Nesbitt.

They need to stop using the wide angle lens as the whole place is just empty. It's like the sets got stuck in customs and they're just making do in one corner with the local scout group....

Has anything been deep fried yet?

Possibly that's what happened to all the sets and actors and they combusted, hence the utterly sparse display we see before us...

I've not seen it all, but from the bits I'm catching it seems to be a lot more human than I was expecting.

I'm glad they've not just tried to do a lower budget copy of the Olympics, I like it.

They should have had some big tunes like Manc 2002.
Getting Stevie Redgrave to open it in one of David Byrne's old jackets was a brave move. 🙂

You can help people in Scotland learn basic skills, like singing, dancing and sitting on chairs. Please give whatever you can, this is a historic opportunity to help these people and end their suffering...
