You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
About 3 years ago my fitness and weight had improved quite a bit to a point where I could keep up with people I ride with (always struggled with endurance as I’m a sprinter and built like one!). I lost some weight (to 14st - I’m 5’7” but have very muscular legs/shoulders as I used to sprint and have a manual job) and managed to to a 10K run in under an hour which I was mega chuffed with.
Then I did a C2C and my bike was poorly set up (saddle height, totally my mistake) and I wrecked both my Achilles. This coupled with renovating a house meant I didn’t have time to ride or run and basically ate fast food all the time (full time job and working every night until midnight on house!)
The house situation is now better and after a lot of physio I can now walk properly and ride my bike for a couple of hours without pain. I was 16st 5lbs a few days ago and have lost 5lb already (errrr through having the squits!).
Cant believe I’m having to go through the painful process of losing weight again and starting up running etc but I know it’ll be worth it. Now I’m the other side of 40 it’s so much harder especially as I’m stiff as a board with all sorts of aches and pains - hopefully due to being overweight and inactive.
I’ll try and keep a bit of a diary on this thread with my progress
So if you see me about Huddersfield on my bike say hello! I’m in the Almondbury area if anyone wants to pop out for a very slow ride.....
Good luck on the quest.... the first rides are the toughest ! Honest !
