Had a call the other day from a company called Nationwide Energy Services informing me of Government grants to have cavity wall insulation and attic insulation fitted. What they said made sense somewhat so I was just wondering if anyone else has had any first hand experience? Ta.

I had the loft insulated for next to nothing. The elec & gas companies have a duty to do a certain amount of energy saving and this is one of the ways. They use local companies to get the punters and do the work.

With me it was cheaper to have a whole 10" installed than just top up the existing, so I paid my 2 boys £10 each to strip the old stuff out.

for the cost it has to be a no brainer.. how much are you spending heating the house each month ?.. cavity wall should cost no more than a ton and the loft 30 all in.. you may get it all for nowt.. free money.. the best way to save energy though is switch stuff off.. especially anything that generates heat.. kettles toasters tumble dryers microwaves dish washers..

Had cavity insulation done with the gas supplier at the time, who cocked up the invoicing and we ended up not paying anything for it. Result, I think. 😀
