OK, so maybe I'm missing something obvious but anyway...
We inherited a percolator in the office and have made a few pots with it so far but every time the coffee's pi$$ weak and watery (and yes, we are using good quality coffee - live in Nairobi and travel to Ethiopia regularly as well so that's not a problem). We've experimented with varying the amounts of coffee and water but to no avail - more coffee, less water, etc, etc. The machine has a removable filter basket so should be no need for filter papers but it seems to me that the water's coming through too quickly so maybe trying papers will be the next experiment.
In the meantime though, any other suggestions?
try a finer grind?
Try a [i]coarser[/i] grind, no?
With a percolator you fill the basket, and don't tamp it down just leave it loose. If you're not doing that then, well, do that.
