Personally I can’t stand frothy coffee, lattes etc

Good dash of milk does the trick.

Are you a frother or a dasher ?

frothy coffee, lattes etc

Milk based drink for the ladies? *

I favour a double espresso macchiato (with hot milk, not foam). So a dasher I guess.

*apologies to the Pub Landlord.

Why would you spoil coffee by putting milk in it?

Prefer frothy as long as not getting short changed on the amount of coffee. 😀

Why would you spoil coffee by putting milk in it?

Why would you spoil a latte by leaving out the milk?

I like both. Sometimes a latte, if the coffee is dark enough; other times with just milk. Also according to mood.

Or a cortado, sometimes. These are best if I find myself in Costa.

If you put milk in an Americano then you have a white coffee.

Do you 😱

In anywhere these days simply asking for a white coffee is met with a 1000mile blank stare... ask for an Americano and cold milk cuts out the 36min confusion and 44 subliminal questioning...

Elia Viviani came into a cycle shop/cafe I frequent and had 3 cappuccino’s one after the other on one afternoon during the Worlds...

Yeah! An Italian drinking a “breakfast drink” in the afternoon??? 🤷‍♂️

Fact; there are three types of coffee:

1, short and black
2, tall and black
3, spoilt

So, yes your skinny almond organochocolattomacchioamericano fits into category 3 (and probably costs £12).

An attempt improve pre-spoiled coffee?

Most important question is are you a frother or a dasher after your morning coffee 🙂

Well, to buck the trend (even though I own a log burner), I like cappuccinos and flat whites every bit as much as I like espressos depending on my mood.

Ooh, a bit of everything. Hot, cold, lighted foamed, to so dense it needs a spoon. Also chocolate flavoured coffee is delightful, as are most syrups.

Black, blacker, blackest. Do I want space for milk in my Americano? No of course not, I just want black coffee from the deepest pit of black.

Milk with freeze dried coffee? No, tea instead. Black of course.

Christ, this is like discussions on porridge. Apparently the only way to eat porridge is made to a cement like consistency with a bit of salt instead of sugar, whilst standing, kilted, in a draught and scowling.

I enjoy my coffee to suit my mood... sometimes as a flat white, sometimes as a macchiato (foam only) and often as a simple espresso.

Oh, and I sometimes put a bit of sugar on my porridge. And as I have been known occasionally to like Highland Park I might as well go and abandon myself on a hillside to save you all the trouble.

On the other hand, if you've only got instant coffee, I'll have a tea please. Loose leaf, assam, in a pot.

Pas DE lait, n’est-ce pas?

Nope. Would you ask for un verre de Vin?

Milk and wine are masculine therefore it's du.

So how come only girls drink wine?

Just to make it clear, instant "coffee" does not fall into any of the three coffee categories.

REALLY? This long before some flippin pedant comes in and points out that it's espresso, not EX!

Standards are slipping.

As for milk in coffee ... sigh!

Yes, that's exactly what I'd ask for.

Milk and wine are masculine therefore it’s du.

Nope. Because of a grammatical thing. Ask a Frenchy. Would you ask for "a glass of the wine"?

Would you ask for “a glass of the wine”?

Why not?

'Would you like wine or water?'

'I'd like the wine please'

‘I’d like the wine please’

Yeah, that's sort of the point. You are referring to a specific wine, not wine in general, So when I ask for no milk in my coffee, I am referring to general milk, not some specific milk.

Think I'll just nip out for un expres' 🙂

Prob both to be honest, I usually have a double-double espresso first thing in the morning and by the time it has hit my empty stomach and began the process through my gut i figure i have a max of 30 seconds to dash to the toilet which can be a perilous journey when you have progressive MS and limited ability to walk/stand unaided, by the time the mass evacuation has ceased the result in the bowl is most definitely frothy with a caramel head.

Sorts me out for the entire day though, i don't need to worry bout bowel movements till the following morning.

EDIT : That is what you were referring to wasn't it?......

I often start my morning by making a split shot - one shot goes into the espresso cup, the other into a 3oz glass for a piccolo. Here's an example:

If I'm at a decent coffee shop I'll nearly always drink espressos or filter coffees (pourovers or Aeropress - not a fan of most batch brew).

Given that around 75% of coffees sold, even in the specialty industry, are milk based, I do, however, like to see what each coffee we sell tastes like in milk.

I never drink an Americano in a specialty coffee shop, as it's probably the worst way to make a light roast coffee. Adding the hot water to the espresso disperses the crema and results in quite an acidic tasting drink (as the crema, when drunk as an espresso, would help to reduce the sensation of acidity).

JP
