Code/combination lock for gate

In need of a new lock for the garden gate. It's 70mm thick and currently has a key lock that you turn and push to release the latch. It's a bit stiff and fiddly to use so ideally want a simple code/combination lock but not seen anything suitable for a 70mm thick door. Also nothing electric.

Any recommendations?

There might be something from Lockinox but they are mostly for mounting inside a steel framed gate (and cost a fortune).

Screwfix has a lot of codelocks stuff.

I've recently fitted a key operated "locklatch deluxe" from Toolstation and they are very easy to use. The key works like a switch so turn one way until clicks then back to centre and remove key to leave it unlocked (but latched) and vice versa to lock.

Oh, hang on, I may not have been so wrong after all. This is suitable for 70mm thick frames. We have one although a smaller (50mm) size. Really rate it but obviously its not what you've specified being a key lock. It would fit though....

Stupid suggestion, any reason not to just have a normal latching handle and secure the gate with a simpler separate staple and hasp using a (combination) padlock?

The door doesn't sit flush with the post on the outside. Only on the inside. The door is 70mm bur the post is 180mm.

Ignore the locklatch then. The latch mounts in the post rather than the gate, and I think the supplied actuation rods only allow up to 150mm (although suppose you could notch it 30mm into the front side of the post).

I presume a hasp and staple with code padlock also couldn't be accessed from both sides of the gate without a very big access hole.

You could just recess the gate a bit with a router to fit a lock designed for a narrowed width.

Is the existing lock actually rubbish, or is it just weathered/gunked up/needs good clean out?

How about one of these:

I'm considering something similar for a side gate that will be quite solid and tall, so padlock and hasp on one side wouldn't work too well, especially for the younger members of the household.

Rust and corrosion mostly. Also I'd like to not need to carry a key when I go out.

Key safe, I have one by the back gate, just lock all my keys in when I head out on a ride.
