Is there much difference? I've seen cheap KTC branded coconut oil in the South Asian section of supermarkets, and then fancy versions at twice the price in the whole foods section. What's the extra money buying?
I cook with cheap KTC brand coconut oil but I haven't cook with the fancy one yet so not sure how it taste exactly.
According to my mum they taste the same but the fancy one is virgin first cold pressed or something like that ...
If you haven't cook with coconut oil before you might taste hint of coconut but after a while, once you are used to it, it will taste exactly like any other oil.
I am also trying out Rice Bran oil from Tesco at the moment £1.5/500ml (usually £2/500mil) and this one is even better. It can even cook at higher temperature than coconut oil. Very pleasant.
My view is rotate the type of oil you cook with ... 😛
Both the above type of cooking oils are better than sunflower and vegetable oil.
