We're thinking of going to Normandy for a week before the Easter hols. We'll be in the van staying on aires or sites.
We've never stayed there before (just drove south from Cherbourg), has anyone got any recommendations for easy gravel/hybrid routes, walks and a bit of culture near the coast. Any must see places? Probably going out & back on the Dieppe ferry
Thanks
(I'm not keen to go to WWII sites as it's all very depressing. We went to Hartmannwillerskopf in the Vosges last year and it was mind-blowing, so many people died for 1 small hill in WWI).
if it's flattish, traffic-free routes you're after, then this might be worth a look:
Thanks
Friday afternoon bump
any more easy hybrid/gravel ride suggestions in Normandy?
I can't comment on hybrid/gravel rides, but on places to visit.
If you go to Le Havre, the cathedral is worth a visit. Looking up the spire from the inside is incredible.
Rouen has a nice town to wander around. There are some good bike trails in the woods surrounding Rouen.
There's quite a nice seaside town, Deauville. With some nice coastal walks
Do you have komoot elshal? I've found it really handy for this kind of route planning. There looks like some quite nice rides on there in the Normandy area. I think it's £30 for full annual access, or you can buy individual areas more cheaply. I'm a proper cheapskate, won't pay for Strava etc, but I've found that komoot has been money well spent.
Thanks. I'd forgotten about Komoot. I'll have a look
We found lots of info on local tourism websites
