My pals nephew and his mate are doing a wee charity cycle around the world in aid of the childrens cancer charity CCLASP. They left Edinburgh without a plan in May and made it to Dunbar on the first day, they're now in India.

Welcome to the form faerie.

How did I miss this!? I have some stupid dream of doing similar some time in the future.

These guys aren't dreaming though and its a bloody great cause too.

Kathmandu, they are in Kathmandu at the moment! So envious, legends!

Bookmarked.👍😊

Cheers Poopscoop, it's awesome eh? I'd love to have done something like that but it's the prep that put me off, I love how they're just winging it. I've got so much admiration for them and the people they've met on the road, have you read about Murat yet? Their social media pages are excellent, full of amazing photos and stories. They're not doing it for recognition or glory, just for the sense of adventure, experience and kindness. There was no media to see them off, only their families and there's been no publicity to raise money, I can't afford much but I've decided to send a fiver to CCLASP for each week they're on the road

No space to carry a snack? Keep it under your hat. They're on the road again after a beach break

One good turn deserves another, and another...
These guys have met some amazingly generous people as they've cycled to Australia from Edinburgh

@Dickyboy, you could be right. The campsite they stayed at was closed due to the fires.
Their journey has been epic so far, they show a side of humanity which is beautiful, kind and resilient

11,000 miles! 7,000 to go. I thought their journey would end in Australia, but they've kept on going. Their blog is amazing, they've met so many awesome people on the way and have travelled through some stunning scenery. They're doing it for a great cause too!

Absolutely incredible stuff.

Wish I'd had the guts (and the legs) to have done that when I had the chance.

They've had an amazing journey cycling around the world, whilst brexit was predicted, epic wildfires and a pandemic were not and they've made the sensible decision to return home. They've experienced humanity at its best, fixed several punctures, seen global catastrophes and gone through several tubs of sudocrem since they left Edinburgh last May. They plan to complete the last 2.7k miles of their 18,000 mile challenge when this is all over, so that they can reach their £5k target for CCLASP.
You can read their blog on Instagram or Facebook 😊

Wow, what an effort! I really hope they have better luck getting a flight back home than my friend Kim and her husband did getting back from India last week. All internal airports closed, leaving them having to use public transport and hired cars to get back to New Delhi, BA’s help desk in India were worse than useless, they’d already booked a return flight at £1800, the flights kept getting cancelled then new ones listed.
They finally managed to get a flight confirmed via BA in the UK, but they had to be at the check-in desk to confirm, but the armed guards at the airport wouldn’t let them through the gates unless they had a confirmed ticket! Catch 22 or what!
They managed to get through, but the only two seats available were Business Class, which cost them £6500! Then Kim’s Barclaycard was declined because of suspicious activity, she spent 30 minutes getting through to Barclaycard to sort it out, before they could finally get through to Departures.
That doesn’t include the issues at the five-star hotel - they had to undergo full testing, their luggage had to go through x-ray, the car was checked for explosives before it and their luggage could get through the gate!
I honestly hope these guys have an easier journey back than my friends did.

This has been standard practice at business hotels in India for at least 20 years.

Hope the guys got back safe!
