Submitted a close pass video to Thames Valley Police. Had to upload it to youtube and send in a link, 4 days later it hadnt been viewed, so I followed it up with an online enquiry they have now emailed to say its been vuewed and dealt with appropriately. Youtube say its still not been viewed!! This pisses me off, any advice on next steps?

Here is a still from said video

Wow the rear door handle looks just like your right shifter lever - oh hang on.

When I followed up a driver failing to give way at a roundabout (car would've gone straight through me if I hadn't spotted them and taken avoiding action) you'll be told they only target repeat offenders so thanks very much for sending them a report, it'll go on file.

How do they know they're repeat offenders if they don't record or even acknowledge the first offence?

I think it might be code for "we don't have the resources to police anything other than the most serious crimes".

Submit it to Road.cc, they have a daily close pass vid on their website.

Also use social media eg twitter to ask them why they've not viewed it etc - just kick up a fuss and embarrass them into action.

Tweet it into the TVP Roads Policing feed, making it clear that no-one has even viewed the video you submitted, and ask them whether they are still running their close pass campaign alongside Hampshire Police.

I thought they encouraged you not to put your footage on YT or other social meeja?

Interestingly Hampshire police have an uploader that says this and ask for it not to gobon social media. TVP dont have the facility to upload so you need to send them a link

TVP called to say they were going to get in touch with driver and most likely send on driver awareness course, they asked me what I wanted, apparently death by hanging isnt a viable option!

Bit of a result then, apart from them not crushing his car in front of him, summarily executing him and scattering his remains to the four winds.

Close passing seems to be a thing of the past around here. Now they painstakingly give me the correct amount of space, while overtaking around a blind bend into traffic.

Very much this. Usually on double white lines

I'd say the still is giving me sweaty palms, but I think that's probably just the unbearable temperature inside the house right now.

Because I don't need to commute anywhere now I find myself just using the path next to the guided busway for daily rides as it's just so nice having no cars to think about and it's just the mile each way to get there that I have to use the road for. This obviously isn't a helpful post, sorry!

Does betray the logic involved though.

Previously - Must Get Past Cyclist, even if I kill him/her
Now - Must Get Past Cyclist, even if I kill myself, the occupants of another car, and quite possibly the cyclist as well.

submitted a couple of GMP the other day.
uploaded to some Azure storage so I can stick on to audit logs, looks like they've seen them so I'll give them a week before chasing it. The state that they dont tell you whats going on which is pretty pointless because it seems like a black hole. if you chase them they usually do give you an update.

Yeah, the correct amount of space right up to when they spot the oncoming car then swerve right into you. If it's head-on into another motor vehicle or side-swipe a cyclist you know what the choice is going to be!

I particularly like the ones who take a line which skims past me on the way to a sensible passing distance at a point about ten metres ahead of me, then move back in. It would be a decent pass if I was doing about 50 kph and seems to be becoming more commmon.

I keep thinking about those ~£60 a pair Chillitech cameras that had a recent thread on here, but I reckon I'd get obsessed at watching all the footage and that would make me even more anxious about escaping suburbia to reach the edge of the South Downs.

I got a chillitechcamera, its pretty good. Gives me something to focus on rather than wanting to rip the throat out of drivers that drive like morons. Its essentially to help me calm down.

Looking at that still I can hear a portion of my non-cycling family and friends comments in my head

‘Look at the distance between the front wheel of that car and the kerb!!! LOADS of room for a bike. TYPICAL cyclist they want to take up the whole road and worse still hold everyone up just so they can play on their bike when will they grow up???? and why aren’t they on the CYCLE PATH?? GET A CAR LOL SMH@CYCLISTS!!!!!!11’

If you'd just pay road tax then none of this would happen. I'd actually be curious to see of riders actually had to pay a nominal fee for using the roads whether driving would actually improve, I'm guessing not.

I've been wondering if finding a jersey with something like this on the back might at least let them know they're being recorded, and maybe get a bit more courtesy as a result

I doubt it. "You don't pay road tax" is just an excuse because they lack the wit to come up with any other reason as to why they're so irrationally angry. You don't hear it being yelled at mobility scooters, electric vehicles, pedestrians or people on horseback, do you.

If they had half a brain then they'd realise that there's a high probability that we do, in fact, pay "road tax" but simply happen to not be in our car at that particular moment.
