A Road, national speed limit. Approaching a junction so slow down as I see a Red car pull up at the left hand junction.

Then it just pulls out.

First thought....oh dear.

Hard on brakes and yank car over to the left. ABS does its job and I miss the car.

End up on a verge but no damage apart from the deathgrip on the steering wheel.

No one stopped. Even the cars behind. Shaking like a cat in a kennels now.....

Lottery tonight?

Bloody good job that at least one of you was awake and paying attention!

Try to forgive and forget - the other guy *may* have been dealing with some emergency that stopped him from paying full attention as a one off? That might help to not dwell too much on the alternative, that he's just a dick (although he's probably just a dick.)

And yes, buy a lottery ticket...

Glad you were alert and avoided a crash.

There are some truly incompetent drivers out there, this muppet is a good example:

feel sick I'd imagine.

I approached a t junction on a back road, one Sunday morning, car pulls up at it, I was expecting it would stop, it slowed, then pulled out. I wasn't quite as on the ball as I should have been. Avoided the swerve and possible side effects of that, reckoned best plan was slow and straight on.

though the Saab was subsequently written off, too.

I’m always impressed with just how quickly modern cars stop when you really really stand on the brakes

i nearly sent a Dartmoor pony to its maker the other day. As it was it trotted off completely oblivious

That's a very sad tale!

I was driving a Volvo V40 so not a rocket ship!! Probably slowed to 45 before it happened but it took a few brews before I felt better.

If I hadn't had slowed they would probably have just driven into the side of me!! No obstacles at the junction to block the view so I guess they must have just had a brain fart.

Constant bearing or something like that. As two cars approach a junction at the same time it’s possible to lose a car in the blind spot the a pillar creates, if the speeds  are just right.

I’ve done it myself many years ago.

It's happened to me a few times, just last week I was approaching a roundabout watching it the whole time and still almost missed spotting the car coming round. Brown trouser moment there. Thankfully I was ready to stop but even now I have no idea how I never saw it (yes it was black but it had lights on).

Actually now I think about it it's always roundabouts it happens on, usually when dark. That would be more worrying if I didn't know my peripheral vision is good.
