Last night I was cycling home from work and was clipped by a young lad in a focus. He hit me with his mirror on the arse which bounced off and was run over by a following car. He stopped and was as shook up as me. Told me he didn't see me and reckoned to be doing 30 in a 40 which I disagreed with. He offered to take me to hospital, no need as it just felt like a slap on the bum or run me home.
That was the end of it and I cycled away without his details. The thing is, this is a notorious section of road (Brockholes brow in Preston). Some kids where killed crossing it a couple of years ago. It's one lane down and two lanes up with a solid white line. They are fitting an average speed camera this year which will help but I'd prefer one lane up, one down and cycle lanes either side.
Is it worth reporting/ can I without drivers details log an accident to help get the road made safer?

Although normally I would report it in that instance I probably wouldn't. You say it was quite a young fella (assuming new/inexperienced driver) who seemed genuinely shook up and offered to take you to the hospital. It sounds like he's not a dick but made a misjudgement that fortunately everyone walks away from. I expect he has learnt as much from this as he's likely to and adding the police into the equation won't do anything more towards making him a safer driver in future.

[edit] Sorry missed the bit about not having his details which makes the above a bit pointless. In terms of logging it as an accident in order to add weight to the argument of it being a poor section of road then I can't see the harm in that if you're happy to spend the time doing it.

Ouch! Is this even anatomically possible?

Even if you don't have the drivers full details report it, stats can help, if it's not logged it never happened...

Is this a thinly veiled humble brag pertaining to your buns of steel?
