So no 2 junior took part in his first ever comp today. Only been lead climbing for 4 weeks but had the bottle to give it a go. Wowzers some of the kids there are spidey like. Good, if long day out, 150 competitors in little old derby, great to see kids getting involved in something other than xbox/telly/internet and all that shit.
It's amazing how good some kids are at climbing and well done junior#2 for giving it a go 😀
Cut the shit - where did he place?
11th out of 12. However got a 9th and several other top 20 places for the day on straaaava yesterday round cannock so hes still banging on about that which for a 12 year old isn't bad. #priorities 😉

Read my comment back and it could be read as condescending. Therefore:
Kids are awesome and your kid is awesome for doing the comp (and for the riding on Saturday too)

Wasn't taken like that at all spawnofyorkshire. Load more training to do and see if he can get competitive. Not put him off in the slightest, he's seen what can be done and its just incresed the desire to get better...
I accidentally entered a comp a couple of weeks ago, first one in 20 years. Turned up for a quiet boulder and found the place packed, with a competition on. Nearly turned around but thought ‘what the hey’ and had a go. Excellent fun and 5th in age cat. Clue: not many old gits turned up.
