I'm assuming there was a bit of a set to in the nightclub, beforehand, with the local hoodlums.

I doubt it was a random act.

Read about this earlier, quite extra-ordinary. I think they where pretty lucky not to be more severely injured, to hard to imagine they could have been killed or suffered career ending injuries.

Really? You know lots of rugby fans then, in order to make such a sweeping generalisation?
And where, in that article, did you read anything that says the attackers were 'rugby fans'?
It says, 'individuals'. 🙄

Yes. One would should never make sweeping generalisations.

I think he was joking, it's common knowledge rugby fans are jolly decent fellows

Well, regarding Jamie's post, let's face it, if there's going to be a major incident involving rival fans, how many times has it been in the press and on TV between footy fans, and between rugby fans?
Rival rugby fans are remarkably well behaved, I've never, ever heard of an incident occurring in Bath, for example, but there have been recent incidents involving footy fans being escorted off of local trains because of their behaviour.
I think years of extreme violence involving football fans means I'm not exactly making a sweeping generalisation, although things have improved significantly.
And I couldn't really care less about either game, TBH; not a great fan of any ball sport.

I heard it all kicked off when Gavin said he was better than St Johnny.

that would be just the sort of delusional thing Henson would say.

On topic though, really glad that it is minor injuries considering what could have happened

@cchris - let us know if the local press can shed any more light on the incident

there was an altercation at the exit of a nightclub . apparently no incidents inside .
the players were walking back to their hotel when they were attacked by youngsters on scooters . some locals and other players tried to help .
being a small town , 5 of the attackers have already been arrested and more have been idnetified .
