Trees down on my way to work. 3 trees with 2 cuts needed on each.
I've done one cut and my bow saw was getting stuck right at the very end.
Any handy hints to make my life easier?
Is it a bow saw meant for wet wood? makes a big difference over a standard. Can you cut from the other side first? Any saw will also struggle where there is tension in the tree, as the saw will get wedged.
Cut 1/4 to 1/2 way through then knock a wedge in the top of the cut above the bow saw to stop the log pinching the saw. A chunky screwdriver will do.
Assuming you want to stick with bow saw but I'd be breaking out the chainsaw for 18" logs. Same goes for wedges though, depending on how the logs are lying and where the tension in the timber is.
