[Closed] Cleaning under glass cooker hob?

i was cooking jam and it boiled over without me noticing for 5 mins. jam ran down the gaps under the dials in the cooker hob that sits in the worktop. the dials are really sticky and don't work properly - on 2x of them the power sometimes doesn't come on at all and so the rings sometimes aren't working.

what do i need to do to get in to see what's going on in there, and possibly try to clean it all up? have already simply lifted the dials off and cleaned those, but the jam must be underneath and really sticky/set.

i know nothing about electrics other than that i should turn it off at the wall and the fusebox before working on it.
