I've dug out my Barbour Stockman coat to use at work. It's been stored in a garage for about 10 years since I last wore it, and it's mainly mould and it's grim.

Now, I know the only way you're meant to clean wax jackets is with a sponge and cold water, that isn't going to cut the mustard here. So, how can I give this a thorough deep clean? Is chucking it in the washing machine going to kill either the coat and/or the machine? I'll be reproofing it anyways...

Jet wash on weakest setting (or handwash it in a muddy puddle) then re-wax?

Why not send it off to Barbour for them to do it for you.  Its not expensive and you will get it back like new.  They even do repairs (for a cost).

You are going to have to reproof it anyhow so why not let them do it.  Planning to get mine done soon too

Ah I didn't think they cleaned them, just reproofed and repaired/altered (going to be sent off to get sleeves lengthened)??

Jetwashing is a cracking idea!

I've just checked their website and they do indeed offer a cleaning service, I could swear they didn't last time I checked. Think I'll still jet wash the worst off for them first. Thanks all
