I cant select the classifieds tab as the blasted ad sits over the tab! Is this a problem unique to me?

No ads for me but the search box doesn't work. It just sends me to a site map menu page.
Same problem here, I reported it in the sticky. I previously asked about the possibility of having the box being able to close once it had loaded but was told that would result in a loss of income to the site.
Where were you told that? It's not in the sticky (you said "once again..." so presumably it's somewhere else?).
@cougar it was Mark himself that said that something along the lines of "that Adsense box represents 1/3 of our income so no we won't be providing a way to deactivate it". Can't remember where, it was within a few months but Google isn't coming up with anything.

No, it's the same annoying box unless we misunderstood each other.
