Bring back the days when there wasn't all sorts of appendages hanging off the bodywork!

McLaren MP4/8 as driven by the late, great Ayrton Senna.

Yes, that is a large down-force increasing fan on the back.

It has to be the flying fag pack or Ferrari 312 out of the lot above.

I was gonna post the Lotus but you beat me to it. Its probably to do with the fact Im a HUGE Senna fan, but the black JPS livery against the yellow senna helmet is something else IMO. Stunning.

The first GP I ever watched that Lotus won. And so it should have.. It was the coolest car on the grid.

Just a few years back, still look better than the new ones.

I always think F1 cars look better with fewer appendages on them, but that's not quite what I had in mind 😉

Ferrari 640 for me. Clean looking, sleek and very cool with Mansell and Berger driving it.

Also made in Guildford, Surry. It's designer John Barnard refuses to work anywhere else.

I recently discovered in my mothers loft, lots of slides of f1 cars and drivers from the 70's and 80's that my late step-dad had taken. He was a keen photographer and mad f1 geek, found some really nice pics.(Nicki Lauda with both ears!) Worth putting on ebay perhaps?

lotus 49 all the way for me. Followed by the Black / Gold Lotus and Tyrell. Less air resistance with those tiny front wheels.

This just shows what a mess the current cars are.

Will still be watching it tomorrow though, maybe just early season keen-ness, will have to wait and see.
