I see no dustbin lid, that is surely the soup dragon's lair
Ah good point.
I've been on this forum so long I knew exactly what the story would be from the cryptic thread title
Lol at title!
I volunteer to live there if it's not raining
I rather liked the concept of astronauts having to abseil in. "in these shoes"?
I first read about those tunnels a while back, they’re ancient lava tubes, and it was suggested that it would be relatively easy to seal the tubes and a reasonable climate created inside.
There’s water on the moon, and I’m sure I read that oxygen and other gasses necessary for human survival can be extracted from lunar rock. And let’s face it, there’s no shortage of solar energy available up there.
Recent orbiter observations have given exact dimensions of the tube, which would easily accommodate a fairly large colony.
A glass dome over that hole would make an enormous skylight!
humans could potentially be living in lunar pits in 20-30 years.
I guess it could be an improvement on Slough.
I'm sure there was a nasa/sky/discovery pseudo docufiction not so long ago where they formed a base in tunnels. The science was quite interesting that acting was quite terrible.

Anything would be an improvement on Slough! A change of name wouldn’t go amiss either.
