If I can't make(or change) a flight, how do you go about claiming back the tax? My google fu is weak and can't find anything on the airline pages

It's not that simple. Who was the airline, what were the ticketing rules and how did you book (ie online directly, with a travel agent or through an online agent like Expedia)?

Germanwings. Berlin to Birmingham via Dusseldorf. Don't ask. Booked via corporate travel booked who have absolved all responsibility and said we need to go direct to carrier.
All because we've tried to save a few pounds
