You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Despite my strongest advice the GF bought some stuff online this Monday on some girlie website who use City Link as their courier
She quite rightly said at the time that as she ordered it mid morning Monday it would be delivered the next day as the delivery blurb states when there would be someone in the house all day long
It didnt arrive yesterday
No probs she said, shes in all day today barring x2 15min trips to the school which is round the corner during which shed leave a helpful note asking the driver to either wait 15 mins or else call back a little while later
The t&c of whoever she bought from say if CL fail to deliver twice the goods go back and she gets a refund minus 'handling charge' the value of which isnt stated, City Links local depot is so far away from town thats it laughable they even use the word 'local' so collections out too
Im not in a hurry to get home tonight
😀
I think City-link's business plan is based on not actually delivering parcels, just notes saying which depot you should pick the goods up from.
I never have a problem with City Link other than their online tracking can be a bit off sometimes.
Got a card through the door when I got back from a school run one day but he turned up an hour later saying 'thought you'd be on the school run so I called back on the off chance you'd be in now'.
It's down to the individual drivers as much as anything, I think.
We get the 'address not found' thing now and then at our office. Which is in a building that has existed for several decades. On a street which has existed for several hundred years. UPS seem to be the worst. The reality is that the drivers can't find anywhere to park that's within 0.1 metres of our building's entrance, so just don't bother, as that would mean they'd have to park up somewhere maybe about 1-2 minute's walk away. We even give them information on suitable parking places, and offer to send someone with company ID out to collect the package from the drivers, yet we still get this kind of bullshit.

Completely agree. Both my City-Link and DPD drivers are great. I know them quite well and they get a drink from me fairly regularly. I know this doesn't help the OP but it helps to know your drivers!

bollocks Ts&Cs - the 'Distance Selling Regs' trump them
"You may not charge a customer the cost of insuring items in shipping. The items are legally under your ownership until the customer accepts them.
You should also remember that delivery charges must be refunded if a customer returns goods within seven days"
Have City Link actually tried to deliver the goods though?
Re-reading the OP I can't see that there is any evidence that they've tried. No cards left etc, so why do you think that they have attempted delivery?
I tend to avoid Shitty-Link whenever I can.
The few dealings I've had have been dreadful. The round-trip to my "local" depot being almost 90 miles - even though there's one in the next town 6 miles away! It just happens to be in a different county!!! AArrgghh!!!
I am waiting on a parcel being delivered by Yodel.
Not confident.
OMG!!
Just got home
City Link arrived when she was out this afternoon and carefully stashed the package out of sight of the road removing the sign on the gate as they left advertising the fact we were out
Alien abduction surely??

Ah, yes because he has nothing else to do all day than deliver this one parcel...
I ordered a bike for a friend to come to mine recently, it was meant to come by TNT but ended up coming via City Link.
Tracking was spot on, and the driver helped me with the box up the stairs into the flat as I'm hobbling at the moment.
Similar service from all the usual suspects, we are very lucky with the drivers round here 🙂
I got a card from Parcelforce saying they'd delivered in to the local post office. This arrived 3 days after I'd collected the item from the post office, and was delivered through Royal Mail's normal postal service. Online tracking FTW.
Parcelforce once failed to deliver to my works as they could not find it. We were so close to them we shared the same postcode and they had to drive past us to get out the industrial estate.
All delivery seems very mixed IME

The irony function clearly wasn't working here was it?
