Would you say you breathe more through your nose or your mouth on average when commuting by bike?
Depends how fast I'm going. Normally I push too hard. I have found the best ways to ride more slowly were to use a Singlespeed (a better method on the downhills), or try and hold a telephone conversation
City bike commuter here, and I can honestly say I've never been conscious of doing it either way.
Not a clue.
Do you mean someone who commutes by bike in the city? Or do you mean someone who uses a cities hire bikes? Anyway, I commute from outside the city into the city by bike and I've not a clue and never even thought about it and wouldn't know why you'd want to know. Is it a question on how much effort it is, or is it some sort of pollution related question?
Weird question with no context!! I assume it's pollution related... obviously you should try to breathe through your nose anyway, as your body works more efficiently this way vs. mouth-breathers, and the hairs in your nose will help somewhat to filter out pollution!
Very odd question without context!
Like Zilog, following a lot of the Z2 discussions I've been consciously keeping my mouth shut and only breathe through my mouth when putting in a lot of effort.
Although I've got a stinking cold at the moment, so it's 100% mouth breathing for me today even with the nasal strip on!
Out of my arse, if I’m late enough…
Through the mouth if I'm not concentrating. Through the nose if I'm paying attention to it, but it definitely limits how much effort I'm wanting to put in (related to @thisisnotaspoon and wanting to stay in Z2).
