Looking at purchasing a chromebook but getting bamboozled by the reviews and I keep changing my mind which one to get. So, what would you recommend? Any bargains currently?

Mainly been looking at the Asus C300, HP Chromebook 14, and Acer 720 just to name 3!

I've had the hp 14 one for a couple of years now. There's not much to say other than it works well and does just what you'd expect it to do.

It's robust too - my son dropped it down the stairs - it spun all the way down and knocked a dent in the wall at the bottom but still works fine and is unmarked.

The current model has higher spec than mine too I think.

Asus C300

I have this massive battery life- 7 hr 38mins of 63% currently - really awkward mouse pad with no buttons so I have to use a mouse - might get used to it if i ahd ept up but after three days i was annoyed with it

Not worked out to add stuff like my printer to it but not really tried

I assume they are just for browsing the web really but work gave it me and I have only had it a week and not really tried much practical stuff with it tbh

Do chromebooks run all android apps? Or is it a completely different system

Thanks for the replies chaps. After doing some reading, they all seem to be very similar, not any that stand out or any that fall sub-par.

Oh BTW, tried to open a .PDF earlier, couldn't. Can anyone suggest a viewer app?

Needs, currently different systems, but there are ways to run android apps, the 2 OS are probably merging in the future.

Track pad on the HP 2 is great BTW, never found one I've liked before and expected to hate it, but no

I bought an Acer 720 from Morgan computers following the recent thread on here. Built quality seems ok, if a little 'light', but that has it's pluses too. Fine for internet browsing, google docs etc. Not tried anything too heavy with it. 6 second boot up and huge battery life. HDMI output is good too, straight on to the TV.

Chromebooks run ChromeOS, which is not Android.

I bought an Acer 720 (I think, deffo an Acer) over a year ago and it's been faultless. Would recommend, although I've not tried alternatives.

Build quality does seem a little light on first impressions, but it's taken a beating in its stride.

Battery life is itaits biggest party trick. I was disappointed by a lack of USB charging, but the mains charger is extremely quick and I wouldn't swap that now.
